Russell appeared on a radio program recently, and surprisingly, had nothing but kind words to say about his newly divorced wife, Katy Perry.

“She’s a good person, I’ve got nothing but love for her", He said.

He felt he just needed to marry her “I loved her so much, it just seemed like the sensible thing to do [when we got married] … I just loved her so much,”.

They got married in October of 2010 in India, but 14 months later it all ended. So what went wrong?

Brand realized “This isn’t really working out.”

Katy's busy schedule and her dedication to her career (recording, touring, etc.) meant that they barely got to see each other when they were married.

“She’s young, successful and dedicated,” Russel explained. “[The reality is] you can’t fully understand it until you do it. I was really into the idea of marriage and having children.”

“It’s a difficult situation … I was really, really in love with her, but it was difficult to see each other … We were together when it was right to be together, and when it wasn’t we worked it out … It was a lovely relationship … it mostly didn’t work for practical reasons … We did work it out, she’s happy, I’m happy."

It's always sad when things don't work out, but they probably both made the right decision to split up. Hopefully the two will be able to find happiness somewhere else.
