Miley Cyrus may raise a lot of eyebrows as she sheds her squeaky-clean Disney girl image, but people sometimes forget about all the charity work she does!
So here are Miley's tips for celebrating MLK Day in true fashion - by making a difference.
- Make serving others one of your 2012 resolutions. You can do easy things like volunteers once a month, sponser a child in a poor country, or tutor.
- Share messages promoting peace, like the PSAs by celebs like Bella Thorne, Jessie J, and Shailene Woodley.
- Let people know about the work you've done or do by entering in contests like the Huffington Post's Teen Impact contest.
- Encourage people to serve others on MLK Day, via social media or word-of-mouth.
- Participate in a food drive (like the Souper Bowl of Caring).
- Read or watch Martin Luther King, Jr,'s inspirational "I Have a Dream" speech.
- Plan a service project with friends - it can be as small as cleaning up your neighborhood or making cookies for senior citizens. And share the results with your friends!
- Interview people in your community to see what people have to say about the impact MLK had on their lives. Post your results on GetUrGoodOn.org.
- Get informed about the Hate Crimes Prevention Act in your state.
- Upload a peace sign pic or a peaceful song to your Facebook or Twitter - easy!
