Lady Gaga chose Melbourne, Australia to debut her a new song that might be on her next album.

We’re used to hearing more party-friendly stuff from the pop star, so “Princess Die” is something surprising from her. Before she sang the song, she warned fans that the lyrics are a little sad – they’re about a girl who’s decided to kill herself.

The official studio version will be out in August with an appearance by Elton John.

The song is probably inspired in part by the life of Princess Diana, who was a friend of Elton’s. Lady Gaga has always said she really admires the princess, so the song might have something to do with her.
