The young actress does her part to improve the world we all live in.

Wambie girls, a few days ago Emma showed off the new spring line from People Tree.  In this way the actress is helping people in India, Blangadesh and Nepal. But how?

Swallows, part of PeopleTree was set up to provide opportunities for women who suddenly found that they were the head of the household, after the village was devastated in 1971, when all the adult males were massacred during the war of independence.

People Tree Founder Safia Minney asked the women at Swallows how Fair Trade makes a difference to their lives:

“In other villages the women think that they are living for their husband – but here the women don’t think that they are dependent on him. They think they have equal participation in the family.”

So there you go, spend a bit more on your clothes and buy something that was made under fair conditions, not something that was made by a girl, maybe your same age, in poor working conditions in a far away country. Another reason to shop People Tree!
