Bully is a new documentary that’s stirring up a lot of controversy. Part of it is the scary topic, and another part is the R rating it received.
The movie follows kids who get bullied at school and their families. Obviously, there are lots of very difficult things to watch as these kids get bullied emotionally and physically.
It got an R rating, so nobody under 17 can see it without an adult, even though the main subjects of the documentary are under 17.
Demi Lovato has been fighting hard to bring the rating down to PG-13 because she feels so strongly about preventing bullying. She tweeted “Please help repeal the R rating on BULLY. EVERYONE should be able to see it. Sign the petition.”
Ellen DeGeneres was the next celeb to join in. Justin Bieber has also signed up to get the rating lowered, and so did A-list actors Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep.
You can see the preview below to decide for yourself if it deserves an R rating. If you think it doesn’t, you can sign the petition Demi talked about HERE.
