Demi Lovato made a space in her crammed schedule for a cause that's really close to her heart: an anti-bullying campaign.
Demi has been very open about how much she suffered from bullying at school. She got teased and people said mean things to her, which made her younger teen years a real struggle.
She's spoken about her battle for years and is a great inspiration for girls who might be going through the same thing. And now, she's the official ambassador for a campaign to stop bullying - “Mean Stinks.”
Demi went and talked to an assembly of teen girls, and she asked them to pinky swear they were going to have a “Drama Free School Year”. All the girls painted their pinky fingers blue to show they signed the pledge.
Here's what Demi had to say about her own school years:
“I had a really tough time when I was in middle school. People would write 'hate petitions' [about me] & send them around to be signed. They'd have CD-bashing parties of my demos. They'd come to my house, stand across the street and yell things. It was a very emotional time for me, and all I wanted to do was get away.”
Of course, Demi fought her way through her issues and managed to come out even stronger on the other side.
