Not happy with your guy? Stop for a minute and think about what's wrong with the relationship. Maybe there are some things you've missed:

1. Lack of respect:  Maybe he laughs at you or insults you. This can include him saying things like, "you only say stupid stuff" or "you look fat in that dress" or "you'd be nothing without me".  Lack of respect hurts and can damage our confidence. The affects can last for years.

2. Jealousy: Sometimes guys confuse love and jealousy. One Wambie girl told us that, "At first my ex got jealous when I spoke to other guys I thought it was cool he thought about me so much and didn't see what a huge problem it was."

Jealousy is not cool. A jealous person doubts your feelings are real. If your boyfriend doesn't let you talk to other guys or girls, there's a huge issue.

3. Lies: Small lies turn into larger ones, and too many lies can ruin a relationship. The truth is important in any relationship and if your boyfriend isn't telling you the truth then something is wrong.

4. Not forgiving: You do something he doesn't like and he won't call you for a week. If your guy won't live up to his mistakes and doesn't know how to forgive and forget then the relationship will end up causing you a lot of pain.

5. Control: You are in charge of your own life. No one has the right to tell you what to do, where to go, or what to wear. In a good relationship these you makes these choices for yourself.

6. Lack of communication: Your guy doesn't want to talk about how he feels or listen to what you think. Maybe it's time to end it then. 

 

Sometimes it's hard to convince your parents to let you date, especially if they're strict. We have prepared some advice for you to help with this key moment.

• Try to talk to your parents about all this when they're in a good mood.
• Tell them you feel old enough to have a boyfriend and that if they give you the chance you'll show them how responsible you are.
• If they say 'no', ask why.
• Don't ever cry about this in front of them, as this is a sign of immaturity. Try to be serious.
• Don't get angry when they explain their reasons. Wait until they have met the guy and then let them decide again.
• If they still say no, then wait for a bit. You could also try to go out in groups, this way they feel better about it and you still see the guy.

Finally, make sure you really like this guy before you go to all the trouble.

Life is full of surprises. It's possible that the guy you once went out with is still the object of your heart's desire.The problem is how to know if he still likes you, too.
